My Minotaur story

Hi there!
On Wednesday we did some persuasive writing. Persuasive writing is when you are asking others to change their mind about an issue. Mine is about the story of The Minotaur and how he ate youths from Athens.

Pleading a Cause - Persuasive Writing

Pretend you are the King of Athens.  Write a letter to King Minos, pleading for the lives of the youths who are to be fed to the Minotaur.
Give at least 3 reasons why their lives should be spared.
Remember to write a conclusion at the end to link your reasons together.

Dear King Minos,
I am writing to you about the fate of the nine doomed youths.  I plead for their release on the grounds that:,
Firstly, none of those young men  have done anything wrong. It would be unfair to kill them.

Secondly, these boys might grow up to be mighty warriors one day. If you kill them now, they will never be able to help you defend your city.

Finally, killing these boys will not bring your boy, the prince, back from the dead. They will be dead too and you will still not feel any better.

I am sure you must agree, those innocent boys deserve to stay alive, become useful men and their deaths will not heal your grieving heart.

Yours faithfully,
King of Athens
